I was over the moon when my poem was commended and published in The Caterpillar in 2018.

Gote the Nits

Ah`ve gote the nits,

It`s just the pits.

Ah itch then claw,

Ma scalp`s rid raw,

Ah feel they`re doon ma vest.

Ma heid`s alive

As mair arrive.

These minger`s breed

At awfy speed,

Ah think they`ve built a nest.

Yon nits attach

Whaur eggs will hatch

Then jab yir ear

Like a musketeer.

Wud ye jist gie me a rest.

Electrocute

Hang, droon or shoot

Or even fry

Thon nits must die,

Afore I git depressed.

Slap oan the cream

Afore I scream,

Then comb each bit

An stab each nit.

Come oan Mum, dae yer best.

I wrote this poem at a later date, in reply to Gote the Nits.

A Nit`s Reply

I cling for my life

On someone`s head,

I smirk as they dance

About in bed.

Tantrum`s arise

With faces red,

But soon I know

I will be dead.

My time is short

But I`ll be back,

They kill me off

Like maniacs.

Then I return

And you attack,

Please let me stay

Beneath your hat.
